Role type

  • Part-time, 1-year contract with a 3-month probation, leading to a permanent role.

  • 100% remote position – work from home

We are currently recruiting for:

  • Maths & Science HOD (Year 1–4) – Female

  • Maths & Science HOD (Year 5–10) – Male & Female

  • English HOD (Year 1–4) – Female

  • English HOD (Year 5–10) – Male

  • Arabic HOD (Year 1 to Year 10) – Male & Female

 

Your Role as HOD

You are not just overseeing curriculum—you are shaping the academic direction, mentoring your team, and ensuring our teaching remains outstanding and rooted in Islamic values.

You will:

  • Lead curriculum planning, consistency, and excellence across your subject

  • Supervise and support a team of teachers across assigned year groups

  • Provide regular feedback, mentoring, and development guidance

  • Monitor lesson delivery, assessment practices, and learning outcomes

  • Report directly to the Deputy Head and collaborate cross-departmentally

 

Available Positions & Key Responsibilities

1. Early Primary Maths & Science HOD (Year 1 to Year 4) – Female

  • Develop age-appropriate Maths and Science curriculum

  • Design and implement term-wise subject strategy and targets

  • Review and approve weekly lesson plans and assessment tools

  • Guide teachers with differentiation strategies and resource creation

  • Observe classes and offer structured, actionable feedback

  • Plan STEM weeks and simple experiments for younger learners

  • Conduct subject-specific CPD and coaching sessions

  • Track academic performance and support underperforming pupils

  • Ensure Islamic conduct and values are embedded in lessons

2. Upper Maths & Science HOD (Years 5 to 10) – Male & Female

  • Lead curriculum planning and strategy from KS2 to KS4

  • Ensure the curriculum aligns with the UK National Curriculum.

  • Design differentiated resources for advanced topics

  • Set and moderate internal assessments and exams

  • Review and approve teacher planning and content

  • Observe classes and provide structured feedback and coaching

  • Lead CPD on content mastery and pedagogy

  • Monitor student performance and plan interventions

  • Model Islamic professionalism and educational excellence

 

3. Early Primary English HOD (Year 1 to Year 4) – Female

  • Oversee early literacy instruction (phonics, reading, writing)

  • Create clear curriculum strategy for KS1 and early KS2

  • Approve lesson plans and writing objectives

  • Train teachers on early literacy, differentiation, and assessment

  • Observe delivery and offer constructive guidance

  • Conduct CPD for teaching staff in your subject

  • Track literacy progress and adjust plans as needed

  • Embed Islamic character-building within English instruction

4. Upper English HOD (Years 5 to 10) – Male & Female

  • Guide English instruction from KS2 to KS4 (grammar, essays, literature)

  • Align department practices with UK National Curriculum

  • Review teacher plans and content for consistency and depth

  • Lead departmental CPD on advanced instruction and assessment

  • Conduct structured class observations and feedback loops

  • Monitor data and intervene where student outcomes lag

  • Drive writing excellence while integrating Islamic themes and ethics

 

5. Arabic Language HOD (Reception to Year 10) – Male & Female

  • Build and oversee Arabic curriculum across native/non-native tracks

  • Design a term-wise subject strategy for grammar, reading, writing, speaking

  • Ensure literacy goals are tied to Islamic values

  • Provide resources and standardised assessment tools

  • Train and mentor Arabic teachers with differentiation strategies

  • Observe lessons and give performance feedback

  • Lead Arabic CPD sessions

  • Track student progress and plan support for fluency gaps

  • Maintain excellence in Islamic language, culture, and adab integration

Candidate profile

We are looking for confident leaders who are passionate about both academic success and Islamic tarbiyah. Prior curriculum development or team leadership experience is preferred.

 

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in the relevant subject. 

  • Strong leadership skills and experience guiding other teachers

  • Proven ability to manage curriculum planning and assessment cycles

  • Familiar with UK curriculum standards and Islamic education values

  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and proactive in problem-solving

  • Fluent in English and confident in online communication tools

  • Practising Muslim, able to lead in line with Islamic ethos

School hours (UK time):

  • Monday to Thursday: 08:45-14:10 | Friday: 08:45-11:50

  • Note: HODs are offered flexible part-time schedules depending on responsibilities

​

Remuneration:

  • Monthly salary based on experience, subject and working hours

  • Performance-based bonuses and incentives
