Phonics builds early reading and spelling. Handwriting builds the pencil control to write it down, using the sounds learnt in Phonics.

Phonics

Following the British EYFS curriculum, children work step by step through Phases 1 to 5, starting from where each child is. They learn phonological awareness, letter sounds, blending and segmenting, digraphs and trigraphs, and tricky words, then read and spell simple words and use phonics in their early reading and writing. There is plenty of repetition and consolidation throughout the year.

Wednesdays4:30 to 5:00pmUK time, 30 minutes each week

Handwriting

Children build fine motor skills, pencil control and correct letter formation, moving from single letters to words and simple sentences. The sessions are on Zoom, but as hands-on as possible: playdough, sand, air writing and other practical resources for practising letter formation. Handwriting is linked to the phonics sounds being taught.

What to have ready

The sessions are hands-on. Please have these at your child’s desk for each class.

  • Paper
  • Colouring pens or pencils
  • Playdough or Blu Tack
  • A mini whiteboard

How to join

    Pay securely online by card, through Stripe.

  3. Get the class link

    Once your payment is complete, we email you the class link and the list of what to have ready.
