A school day at Al-Hikmah: what an online week looks like
Live lessons on Zoom from Monday to Thursday, with short breaks, a lunch and play break, and FREE social clubs after school.
School runs live on Zoom from Monday to Thursday. Reception learns from 9:00 to 11:30am UK time in 30-minute lessons. Years 1 to 9 learn from 9:00am to 2:00pm, and Years 10 and 11 until 3:00pm, in 45-minute lessons with 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch and play break. Assembly is at 8:45am on Mondays and Thursdays.
The shape of the day
Most year groups start with Arabic or Qaida at 9:00am, while minds are fresh. English, Maths and Science follow through the morning, and the afternoon brings subjects such as Islamic Studies, Geography, Prophetic Medicine and Life Skills, Tafseer and Islamic History, depending on the year group.
Every school page shows a sample week for its year groups, in UK time, with a button to see it in your own time zone.
Breaks that suit young learners
In Reception, a 10-minute wiggle break comes between every 30-minute lesson. From Year 1, there is a 15-minute break between lessons and a 30-minute lunch and play break in the middle of the day.
If your child misses a lesson
Lessons are recorded with audio and screen only, where available, so no one falls behind.
After school: FREE social clubs
Social clubs give children time to make friends and do activities together. Years 1 to 4, and Years 5 to 7 in separate girls’ and boys’ groups, meet on Monday from 2:00 to 2:45pm. Years 8 to 11 meet on Wednesday from 3:00 to 3:45pm, also in separate groups.
Homework
Homework is usually set once a week for each subject, posted on our learning platform and announced in class, so families always know what is due.
